Happy Random Tuesday!
It is so easy for children to make friends. It takes little or no effort at all. All they have to do is walk up to someone and ask. Though, things change as we mature. We look for core values and how they will treat us as people. As these individuals reveal themselves, we begin to establish our arsenal of fabulous friends. Once the group is solidified, everyone subconsciously assumes a role. Here are a few roles we take on. Which one are you?
The Therapist: When there are a group of friends involved, one person is always the “go to” when you need some sound advice. She is usually a great listener, wise, patient and non-judgmental. She puts you at ease. Not only do you walk away with sound advice on how to move forward, you know that your secret is safe with her. She would never share your personal business with others in your group of friends.
The Party Planner (The Organizer): Never the boring friend – she is the social butterfly of the group. She is the one who knows where all of the great events will be. If there is nothing really going on, she is the one who will plan the gathering of all gatherings. This woman is the McGuyver of the group. Girlfriend can make a party with a can of tuna a celery stick, bottled water, and a bag of potato chips. Everyone knows that she is the “fun one” and she will be truly missed if she is not around.
Are You The Purse Holder/Maid of Honor: She is the reliable one. Her word is her bond. She is never late. In fact, she is always early and the last one to leave. She is the sober buddy. The one who always holds someone’s hair back while the friend is throwing up. You never have to worry about driving and drinking. This friend will hold everyone else’s purse while they are shopping. In addition to purse holding, she will drive an hour out of her way to pick someone up.
The Wing Woman: The wing woman is someone who knows all things regarding the opposite sex. Dry spell is not in her vocabulary because she is never without a date. She is the one who will go with you to a bar and help you get a date. She will advise you on how to act. She will take it upon herself and bring the guy over to you.
The Fashionista: The fashionista is the stylish friend. She knows all things fashion and trendy. She will not let her friends walk out of the house looking like a tack (tacky). She gives you the once over and adds her own scarf or jewelry to give her friends some oomph. If you have somewhere special to go, she may even lend an outfit or two.
When cultivating any relationship, everyone takes on a role based upon our personalities. It is no different when we have friends. At times, these associations are both difficult and fun. Whichever friend definition (s) best describes you – go with it. They love you for it. Not to mention, they all love who you are as a person.Every piece of the puzzle is equally as important as the others. The most important thing is to be loyal, honest, respectful, and loving.
So, which one are you?
Have a great day,
