Your Christmas Playlist
Are you throwing a party this season? Have you made your Christmas playlist yet? You do know that the right songs set the mood.
Do you love festive music as much as I do? Everyone has at least one song that they hum during this time of the year.
I listen to it while I’m decorating the house, while I am driving, and while I am cooking. It makes me happy and puts me in the Christmas spirit. To be honest, I may play a song or two any time throughout the year. All of my childhood memories are attached to these songs. I’ll share one with you.
We always had Christmas dinner at my mom’s parent’s house. My grandfather was in the mid-stages of Alzheimer’s disease. He was starting to forget who we were. It would come and go. Sometimes he would have a few memories.
We would always sit around my grandma’s piano and sing Christmas songs. I had one cousin who loves to sing all day and night. He has a beautiful voice. But he sings all of the time – especially when he has had a few sips. (It was the holidays, so you know he had been celebrating- hee hee). My grandfather was entering the room when my sister was playing the piano. I am assuming that he was going to sit beside her. Though, my cousin beat him to it. He then began to sing. My grandfather put his fingers in his ears, turned around, and walked into another room – all while shaking his head no. You could hear him saying -Shit – as he walked away. Everyone looked at my cousin and burst into laughter! (Apparently, my granddaddy remembered that my cousin’s singing gets on his nerves).
We all still laugh about that day.
